Sent on 20 February 2014We are at present staying in the iglika Palace hotel and when we booked the package i went to search , we where informed that we would be in a 3 star rated room , i am sorry to say this is not a 3 star hotel rating our room is more like a 2 . Staff have been terrible with us because of the argument over charging us for ski storage , this as to be a first, i totally dissagree , its so bad today we have had to go to the main office to sort this , we are the customer and to come back from a days sking and be met with verbal agression is disgusting. Please be aware the charge for ski storage is in the back of the Balkhn Brouchre p 38 and the cost is 2levi per person we will not be comming back to Bulgaria sorry -

Sent on 06 February 2013My partner and I chose the Iglika Palace [4 star rooms] for our second visit to Borovets [Jan / Feb 2013]. Overall we were impressed with the hotel, its' location and facilities. Having been to the three main Bulgarian winter resorts and sampled a number of different hotels, we would say that the Iglika Palace probably just scrapes a 4* rating, but there is room for improvement. The carpets in our room [412L] were very threadbare and in serious need of replacement. Overall the room was spacious and warm, with a large wardrobe & a few hangers for all our 'stuff'. The bathroom was typically small but functional. No issues with lack of hot water and a good, powerful shower. I personally found my bed very uncomfortable, the mattress being both soft and lumpy and the single bed sheets seeming to be slightly smaller than the mattress, resulting in me 'getting knotted' more than once during the night ! Food in the restaurant was as we have come to expect from Bulgaria. A decent choice of breakfast and evening meal, usually luke-warm, but then this is how Bulgarian's choose to eat their food. A microwave was provided for those who wished to 'nuke' their food. Drink prices in the hotel were reasonable and the lobby bar had a 'Happy Hour' which seemed to go on for almost all of the evening ! The Iglika Palace seems to be following the trend [thankfully] of being no smoking in all of the public areas. These were kept very clean, warm and inviting although the area immediately outside of the restaurant could get very busy at times, as this was the only alternative to sitting in the lobby bar if you had children to entertain. The main lift to our floor was quite small and a bit of a squeeze on the first evening to get all our bags up to our room. We chose to use the stairs mostly which was not a problem. Would we use the Iglika Palace again? Yes - probably, but we might opt for B&B or self-catering if the price was right and put the saving towards eating out. -

Sent on 04 January 2012compact twin rooms, comfortable but basic. shower/toilet functional but little space to spare. staff appear very sullen but that seems to be the general way of the Bulgarian people, until you get to know them. Food included in the price, but rather bland and repetitive. we ate out at the bars and restaurants most evenings, which were very nice with live music in some places. 3 star hotel only. -

Sent on 14 October 2011Iglika is very nice hotel for families - Very comfort accommodation for families with 2 kids. We have been winter season 2010 and 2011. Meals are very fresh and very taste. Only one small negative remark – smoking was allowed in the lobby bar and sometimes fresh air is missing. Overall I give good recommendation for the hotel. -

Sent on 08 March 2010We were apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the previous reports, but we needn`t have worried. Its position is ideal being close to the slopes, lifts and town center. We stayed in the new block (superior room) it was spacious, clean and very warm with plenty of warm water. I am going to book for next year. -

Sent on 28 February 2010Stayed at the Iglika Palace Hotel in the Feburary half term 2010, Borovets was a lovely place and the hotel was a lovely too. It was very welcoming, rooms were nice and the food was better than anticipated and met some lovely people out there, who helped me with my knee. Would return to Borovets again. -

Sent on 17 January 2010I've just returned home from a skiing trip to Borovets staying at the Iglika Palace Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the bar staff in particular made our stay enjoyable! The rooms are basic but have all mod cons and are comfortable, the pool was large and clean but cold! We only ate in the restaurant once or twice but that's because we like to eat at different places. Me and my party will be staying at the Iglika Palace again next January -

Sent on 30 March 2009Stayed in Iglika from 23rd March and again I have to say it was far better than expected. The hotel was very quiet being the end of season but this enabled the guests to be very well treated by the friendly staff. The room was basic but clean, reasonably roomy and certainly comfortable. The food was absolutely fine. Breakfast was a feast (even bacon and sausage!) and dinner although not supplying a fantastic choice, what was served was perfectly adequate in terms of size and quality. Also never had a problem with 'warm' food, as it was supplied piping hot. Nothing negative to say - I never expected 5 star, but had a very comfortable, relaxing and highly enjoyable week, at incredible value for money! -

Sent on 08 March 2009Found this hotel very pleasant when we stayed there last week (first week in March) and can say that the hotel photo's and reviews do not do this hotel justice. The food was good and buffet style so no restriction for anyone who is feeling particulary hungry after a day skiing. I have stayed previously in the Rila but have to say I now prefer the Iglika for it's smaller more friendly atmosphere.

The food needs lot of improvements. Sometimes cold, we ate out after our first meal. We did not look forward to eating in the hotel restaurant once during our stay!
Keep going on like this.
The steps going into the hotel are lethal. I was more afraid of breaking a leg on the steps than on the slopes.
This was my 4th visit to Borovets and my 3rd stay at the Iglika, the past 2 years we had a room on the right hand side of Reception (the refurbished part) but this year we were on the other side. The room was clean but it smelt generally of smoke and the bathroom smelt very drainy! We had a twin but the bottom sheet was barely wide enough to cover the mattress, we asked Reception to give us sheets that we could tuck in but they just did not understand what the problem was, we also tried explaining to the maid but we had no luck there either. Correct sized sheets appeared on the 3rd day. The food has never been wonderful but it was decidedly worse this year, needless to say we will not be going back for another visit to the Iglika! Snow, weather and ski conditions were absolutely wonderful!
I suggest that the water machine should be available at dinner time. I also think that the sauna should be free or discounted for residents.
- The hotel staff were very friendly, but it would be better if they spoke English better. Some training may help.
- Website shows Iglika Palace Hotel as 4*, but it is not.
- In general, the food was good, but the quality of some ingredients were poor.
Thanks for all the help.
Hello there, the girls in the office were very helpful and answered all my requests in a timely manner. The rep was keen to inform us of what there was to do in Borovets and offer us some discount vouchers, however his advice on the ski equipment was misleading, the equipment was cheap but we would have paid a little more for better equipment. Apart from this every thing was very good, it was my second time at the Iglika and the food is very good and a good atmosphere and friendly staff in the bar.
We are very satisfied about your service. The ski-materials (ski-depot Mariella) were in a bad condition and the staff of the ski-depot was not very friendly. This was the only minor point, the rest of everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much.
