New skiing area of Bansko
This winter the ski season in Bansko starts on the 20th of December and will end on the 30th of April 2003. All existing equipment is repaired and ready for use. There are also two new anchor type lifts with a capacity of 900 people per hour. They represent a part of the complete set of deliveries by the Austrian company for ski equipment Doppelmayer.
This is the beginning of the first stage of the construction of a new skiing complex. The management of Yulen Co., the concessionaire of the skiing center in Bansko, hopes that two new four-seat lifts will start working in January, 2003. It is for the first time that a four-seat lift with plastic shields against wind and snow are installed in Bulgaria. The new gondola lift, which will be put into operation in the second half of February, 2003 will be very convenient for all the tourists.
The young fans of the winter sports will dispose of running paths, merry-go-rounds and a kindergarten. The construction of the new modern ski center in Bansko will continue and Yulen Co. management promises that this will not be an obstacle for the skiers. For the first time in Bulgaria Yulen Co. offers to its clients in Bansko a modern system of electronic chip-cards of the Austrian company SKI-DATA.
The things are made quite easy for the skiers with the automatic opening of the doors with antenna with a validated card. The skiers will be pleasantly surprised by the possibility to use four new tracks with all the required marking, security and in full compliance with the European standards. The tracks are well cleaned. With every new construction stage the number of the new facilities will increase. Special half-pipe facilities are ensured for the snowboard fans.
The second stage of the construction of the new ski-zone in Bansko will continue with the two new lifts and the equipping of all tracks with new “snow guns”. In this way Bansko will be with guaranteed snow for the 2003-2004 seasons. Yulen Co. undertakes to clean in time all the roads to the tracks until the new lift is set into operation. See the development of the construction since November 2001

Sent on 24 March 2007Hi all I have just come back from a skiing holiday in Bansko snow was good on the high slopes, not so good on the lower slopes. We still managed to get in a lot of skiing and had a great time. The night life is very good, with all age groups catered for. Loved the Village and the people. First class hotels and facilities. Will be back next year. Margaret Park -

Sent on 03 January 2006i went to bansko last year with my family for a ski holiday, it was really good but i dont know if i would go back as it is becoming very touristy. Also alot of the slopes are very basic and if there for a long time could become boring., although it is extremely good for learning. -
